Reconstruction of a historical uniform: Spanish style from the Bourbon era based on a personalized jacket

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition... Well, maybe not exactly the Inquisition, but an intriguing request about the Spanish uniform from the first half of the 18th century has piqued our interest.

We approach unconventional topics with curiosity and openness, so we've decided to delve into the creation of a Spanish uniform from the Bourbon era, using our basic jackets and implementing suitable modifications.

The significance of colors - how to reference the House of Bourbon?

Among the primary colors used in the Spanish army was white, often leading to Spanish soldiers being dubbed 'white coats.' Additionally, blue adorned the collar and cuffs, representing the Bourbon family's color. As you might guess, we've also incorporated these colors into our project.

Uniform in a 350N version

The most challenging task was finding a jacket model from our collection that could be relatively easily adapted into a long, straight coat fastened centrally at the front.

We opted for the JF jacket model, elongating it, creating a split at the back, adding densely spaced buttons for fastening, and incorporating golden trimmings. We sewed on decorative pocket flaps and placed three golden buttons on the white sleeves at the blue cuffs. Blue details also feature on the collar.

What further distinguishes this jacket is the application of a thin 3D mesh, enhancing the comfort of wearing the entire ensemble.

We'd love to hear your thoughts on this model. Let us know what you think!
